The T-700 series turboshaft engine is the standard power system for modern U.S. military helicopters and is widely used in major American helicopters, especially military models. First produced in 1978, it remains in service today thanks to its outstanding performance — including powerful output, high reliability, and excellent fuel efficiency. Development and testing of the T-700 began in 1973, and it passed military qualification certification in 1976 before officially entering production in 1978. Since then, it has been extensively adopted in various military helicopters across the U.S. and Europe, including the renowned UH-60 Black Hawk, AH-64 Apache, SH-2G Super Seasprite, Bell AH-1W SuperCobra, as well as European models such as the EH101/AW101 and NH90. The T-700 remains the most widely produced turboshaft engine to date.
